~ Two Years Ago Today ~

Photobucket
Some of you may remember that on this date two years ago we got hit with 20 inches of snow in less then 12 hours.  With so many leaves on the trees, it caused a war zone here.  Power was out for a full week for me, others weren't so lucky and they lost power for close to two weeks.  The day after the snow the temps rose back to normal October weather and the snow melted.  Not only were trees ruined with broken branches and being pulled from the earth because of the weight.  The area flooded.  Damage to so many homes because there was no power to run the sump pumps.  Ahhhhh today it was almost 70 degrees :)  Much much better!!

It is suppose to be nice tomorrow too.  I am going to try and get out of work at noon.  My parents want to take a ride to Letchworth State Park.  Hmmm.. or is it they want me to drive them.  Either way, with the leaves in full 'bloom'  I'd love to go and get some pictures.  We'll see how it shakes out.

Wednesday there is a memorial/dedication for my sister.  They will be putting a plaque up in the waiting room at the hospital she worked at for so many years.  It's so hard to believe it will be a year.  My heart still aches for her.  I still go to the phone to call.  Then next Saturday her daughter will be married.  Can you believe it's here already?   Life goes on but a day doesn't go by that I don't think of her, speak of her or to her,  or shed a tear.  I miss my big sister so much!!

Still no word on migrating my journal, other then to say they are working on it.  Some folks have issues after their journal was moved and they are also working on them.   Of course not fast enough for any of us.  I'm thinking if they can't get things fixed for me I may just remove some request entries, or snag entries from early on.  Make my journal smaller so to speak.  We'll see.

Oh the boys did play this afternoon.  I was at work and watched some on line, but listened to most of it.  Seems I missed a great game.  We ended up winning 7-1.  Whuuuuuuu huuuuuuu   Only thing is we did get some bruises, and Jochen is out injured with an upper body injury.  Haven't heard details, but that is not unusual.  Hopefully it's minor and he will be back soon!

Hope everyone is doing good and had a good start to the week :)  I'm off to read some entries and try and get caught up.   I did add several blogs to my sidebar.  If you're not there and want to be included leave me a comment with your link.  I will update as soon as possible.  I did it in the beginning and I know I have tons that I'm missing.

Hugs
~d

I do remember that storm of yours. I just didn't recall that it was this early in October. Hope you get some good shots tomorrow.

I'm sure the wedding will be beautiful and a happy one but also bittersweet since your niece won't have her mother there, well she will in spirit. Keeping you all in my prayers...Love ya!

My gosh what had happened over where you live two year ago is awful, wow. I never have been thru weather like that before. But i recall stories my mom told me about the snow storms and crazy winter weather in NYC while she was growing up. Anyhow yeah what a difference from then, till your weather up there today crazy. Having 70 degree weather is much better lol. That would be great if u could get out of work early tomm and go to the state park with ur parents :) I cant wait to see how the pics will come out. Oh wow thats wonderful and beautiful there will be a dedication at the hosptial on wednesday where ur sister used to work. How kind of them. I can imagine ur heart still aches for her every single day and u miss her so deeply. Wow i cant believe soon your sisters daughter will be married already. Time does fly. Im so sorry about no word on the migration of journals. I still cant believe u along with others still cant get them moved over. Aol needs to do something and quick its awful. Yeah i think if you prob do move over some of entries that you had with the requests, maybe that would help with the transfer. So glad ur boys won hun! Im excited over here about our Rays! there doing awesome in the playoffs. I know im talking baseball here lol. But our city is just so excited for the team. Oh and yes please feel free to post my link up. I would like that :) Follow me as well. Take care hun. Have a good night. ttys :) xo, Leslie

Awww Donna they say it gets easier as time goes on,I haven't found that to be true. Sure, there are good days, bad days, sad days, but not a day goes by that it doesn't seem like yesterday. You and your family will be in my thoughts on Wednesday, as always.
We have had beautiful weather here. Our temps. have been in the 80's & 90's. Sundays high was 96. I dread winter coming.
Well you know I'm not computer savvy but I was wondering today since the word verification thingy is to deter spam maybe it could be enabled long enough to see if the migration could be completed. It can always be disabled afterwards. Just a thought.
Hope you and your parents are able to make the trip tomorrow and you are able to get lots of pictures for your enjoyment and ours.
Hugs
Debbie

I'm glad you are having great weather. I'm just trying to get caught up and rested up from the last week and weekend. Get out with that camera and take some great fall shots. You are in the perfect spot for it.

Ahhhhh, that would one way to make yourJournal smaller for transport! That is a good idea! Without losing your life and those comments of your friends? Not sure if all comments make it all the time.

I am slowly going through mine, to see what is lost. Lots of links and pictures are gone, oh well!
Still wishing you the best, D.

Ann

Have a great day with your parents if you get to go:)

Maybe that is great timing, with her daughters wedding, as your sister is also remembered. Hugs and love, Hun,

I miss those fall colors, being from Michigan and now Florida.. will be thinking of your family Saturday, it's going to be bitter sweet, not having your sister there. God Bless you and yours during this time, and how awesome that is for the hospital to put a plaque in memory of your sister!

I hate it so much that you, of all people, are going thru all this to migrate your precious tags and words! AOL SUCKS.
Lovely photo....i remember well when you got all that snow. Time sure is flying and i am so pleased your sister will have a dedication of that plaque and then the wedding...she will definitely be there in spirit. I love you. Be safe.

I remember that storm you had and that you were without power for so long it must have been awful. Hope the sun shines for your outing with you camera. Love Joan.

Holy cow! 20 inches in 12 hours? I don't remember that...maybe it was before we got to know each other? I dunno.

That's scary though...especially in October!

It's been in the 80's here during the days. The leaves aren't changing too much yet, I guess because it's still so warm. Usually, by this time, we're in full autumn splendor.

I think eliminating some of your snag entries and such is a great idea. I bet that would help.

Good luck!

XOXO

I'm so sorry about your sadness over your sister. It's a pain, heartache that never leaves. My Mother is in my thoughts every single day and it's been over 3 years now. To me, it feels like last week.
I can't wait to see your fall pictures! Here in Las Vegas we don't get a "fall" or the beautiful colors. I miss it so much :(
I have not been brave enough to transfer my AOL journal over yet. I'm waiting for them to work out some more of the "bugs". We still have time.

Huggers,
Gayla
PS: Sorry for the trouble, but I will just post my email with any requests. Thank you :)

I didn't realize your niece's wedding was coming up already. I do remember that big snow you had a couple years ago. Glad you've got normal weather today. Our leaves on our street are just now starting to turn, and I hope we have a nice, long fall with lots of color.

I think it's wonderful that they are having a dedication ceremony. It is hard to see time pass. And no, I don't believe it gets easier, we just learn to deal with it in a different way. Many good thoughts coming your way:)
Glad to hear that your boys won....
